Kathryn Dries
CONDA winning performer, Kathryn Dries, first appeared in Newcastle Theatres in 2000 as the Queen of the Night in Opera Hunter’s production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute. More recently, Kathryn appeared as Dorabella in Newcastle Festival Opera’s production of Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte. Kathryn was awarded the CONDA for her portrayal of Cherubino in Opera Hunter’s production Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro.
Kathryn performs in recitals throughout Newcastle and Hunter regions and has also featured in the Maitland Art Council “Showstoppers” series.
Kathryn has recently formed a new promotions and events company called Showcase Events. Her company will specialise in featuring local singing and orchestral talent in venues that compliment the performance whilst always representing an unprecedented level of quality.
Peta Dries – Violin
Peta began her violin studies at the age of seven. She gained her A.Mus.A. and L.Mus.A. diplomas whilst studying with Errol Collins. Peta graduated from the Newcastle University Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music, having studied with Elizabeth Holowell. Peta spent a year at the Bloomington School of Music at Indiana University studying with Henryk Kowaslki. This study was made possible through a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship.
Since returning to Australia, Peta has performed extensively both as a soloist and an orchestral musician. Peta was a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra and has performed frequently with the Sydney Symphony and the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs Orchestras.
Peta has given numerous recitals in Sydney and Newcastle, as well as concerts in the USA and Japan. Peta now teaches the Violin at the Newcastle University Conservatorium of Music and at Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College, in addition to maintaining a career as a solo recitalist. |
